ukumanity — 4 strings 4 humanity
One ukulele. One voice. One cause at a time.
“This is the underdog of all instruments. And it's the instrument of peace. Because if everyone played the ukulele, this world would be a much happier place.”
The Ukulele

Music opens hearts – and helps us see reality from that more open place.
It instantly reminds our bodies that we are all connected, even when we may feel separated at times.
Music is, in a sense, the felt experience of connection. And somehow, this seems to be particularly true for the sound of the ukulele. There's something magical and healing about it.
That said, for music – for the ukulele – to serve humanity, it needs to be experienced: live, in the moment. So I put mine to work.
Who am I

My name is Boris. While I used to sing and play the piano and saxophone as a student, I am not a professional musician at all – and yet music has kept playing an important role in my life, literally and metaphorically. In fact, I see my work in the field of leadership and culture development as a different way of making music with many musicians.
Some years ago I started playing the ukulele – partly because I fell in love with the frequency and energy it carries, partly because it's one of the few instruments I can easily take with me on my work journeys.
In the absence of opportunities to play with others, I decided to play in city centres – so my music could be of service. That was the inception of ukumanity.
What I do
I play the ukulele and sing in public places to collect donations – for one humanity purpose at a time.
Donations go to the charity or organisation I play for on that day. That can be an organisation in service of democracy, of children, of care, or of our climate.
All donations go to the organisation I play for on that day – currently Frankenkonvoi.
